Lagos Gov’t BRT Bus Kills Motor Cyclist And His 2 Passengers At Lekki Sparking Protests

Just days after a Lagos State owned Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) vehicle knocked down and killed a soldier around Palmgrove area of Lagos State another BRT bus, in the morning of Sunday, July 6, 2014 knocked down and killed a motor cyclist, popularly called okada  and his two passengers along  Lekki-Epe Expressway.

According to eye-witness reports obtained by The Trent, the BRT bus was on high speed and ran into the okada rider and his passengers as they were about to cross to the other side of the road, killing all three on the spot.

The incident which caused a minor traffic jam along the road, ignited violent reactions from commercial motorbike riders and touts in the area as the scene of the fatal accident was cordoned off.

The Trent witnessed the arrival of a police van at the scene of the accident but the team of policemen were stoned and chased away by the miscreants.

As at the time of filing this report, the whereabouts of the driver of the BRT bus is unknown.
