BREAKING: DSS Lay Siege On Deputy Senate President Ekweremadu’s Residence (PHOTOS, VIDEO)

Operatives of Nigeria’s secret police, the State Security Services, SSS, also known as DSS, have laid siege  the residence of Ike Ekweremadu, the deputy president of the Nigerian Senate. The operatives are seen in a video obtained by The Trent preventing movement around the official residence of the deputy senate president on Tuesday [July 24, 2018] morning.

The team of officers are joined by a detachment of the Nigeria Police Force as they continue to hold Dr. Ekweremadu hostage in his home in Apo, Abuja.

A source familiar with the development, says that the aim of preventing Ekweremadu from leaving his home is to  stop him, a member of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, from presiding over the defection of aggrieved senators of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Bukola Saraki, the president of the Nigerian Senate, is expected to be absent from the Senate plenary session Tuesday morning as he would be honouring an invitation by the inspector general of police over the Offa Robbery.

Senator Saraki has described the police invitation as “political games”.

An unnamed aide to Ekweremadu, who spoke with Daily Sun, saying that the country’s number four citizen might be arrested and detained.

The Trent had earlier broke the news of the police barricade of Senate President Saraki’s convey preventing him from leaving his residence at about 8am Tuesday.
