Mr Peremobowei Ebebi, a former deputy governor of Bayelsa State has survived a boat mishap on Saturday, November 1, 2014 after a town jetty capsized into the river.

At least four of the passengers, including an operative of the department of state security service reportedly died in the mishap.

However, fresh facts that emerged on Sunday, November 2, 2014 holds that it was a swift  intervention of some of the community members that saved  Ebebi, who would have died in the boat mishap.

The deceased DSS officer, before the incident, was attached to the office of the state Project monitoring department located along Imgbi Road, Bayelsa State.

According to reports, he was said to have escorted the head of the department, Mr. Ball Oyarede, who is an aspirant for the state House of Assembly, to Ekeremor LGA in the just concluded ward congresses of the PDP.

Oyarede was a former Commissioner for Lands and Housing and former state Representative, Niger Delta Development Commission.

It was reported that while the said boat was returning from the ward congress, the jetty overturned before taking off and emptied its contents into the water.
