‘I Have Not Congratulated Buhari Over Election Tribunal Judgement’ – Fayose

Ayodele Fayose, the immediate past governor of Ekiti State, has on Thursday, September 12, 2019, denied issuing any congratulatory message to President Buhari over his victory at the Presidential Election Tribunal.

The petition filed by Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was on Wednesday, September 11, 2019, struck out in its entirety in favor of President Buhari.

Reacting to the news, Fayose dissociated himself from any congratulatory message to President Buhari that might have been issued on his behalf.

According to him, he can’t author such statement because his party will appeal the judgment of the Presidential Election Tribunal.

The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal on Wednesday dismissed the petition of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar in its entirety as it affirmed the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari as the lawful winner of the February 23, 2019 presidential election.

In its ruling at the Appeal Court on Wednesday, September 11, 2019, the tribunal struck out the PDP’s petitions on Buhari’s certificate qualifications, vote buying, and INEC electronic transmission of election results on servers among others.

The PDP and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar had challenged the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari and All Progressives Congress, APC, at the February 2019 presidential election.
