Fire Outbreak Rocks INEC Office In Imo

Fire outbreak has rocked the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC office in Nwaorubi , Mbaitoli Local Government Area (LGA) of Imo State.

The state INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Gabriel Ada, learnt from an eyewitness that the fire which reportedly emanated from a generating set around 1.30am razed the entire building.

The REC observed that there might be slight hitches during the April 11, 2015 gubernatorial and national assembly polls, although the card readers were said to be untouched by the fire as they were kept in a safe place.

He however assured that the commission would ensure that everything is put in place in order to ensure elections hold in the area on Saturday.

The State Police spokesperson, Andrew Enwerem,confirmed the incident and added that some persons have been arrested in connection with the outbreak while investigations have fully started.
