#RIP: Former NFA Official Austin Akosa Passes On

Former Nigerian football official and spokesperson for West African Football Union (WAFU), Austin Akosa is no more.

According to his brother Chuka Akosa, the 74-year-old died on Saturday, January 16, 2016 after a brief illness.

A lover of football in all ramifications, Austin Akosa served in different sporting federations including the Nigeria Lawn Tennis Association (NLTA), the Nigeria Table Tennis Association (NTTA), the National Sports Commission (NSC), the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) and the West African Football Union (WAFU).

He also served as President of the Nigerian coaches association and was match commissioner for some key football matches in Africa.

The late Austin Akosa Akosa attended the Holy Cross Primary School, St Gregory College, Obalende, Lagos and the Ashridge College, London for his primary, secondary and tertiary education respectively.

He was also one of the pioneer students of the Nigeria Institute for Sports.

May his soul rest in peace. Burial plans are yet to be announced by his family.
