The two organisations that staged the mega pro-Biafra protests which shut down the Niger Bridge for the most part of Wednesday, December 3, 2015, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the Movement for the Actualisation of the Republic of Biafra (MASSOB) have denied burning down any mosque.

A Facebook user, John Okiyi Kalu, debunked reports that the Onitsha Mosque was burn by sharing photos he took after the riot.

The surrounding shops were vandalised but the mosque, which is the uncompleted building with a tree by its side is untouched. The tree beside the mosque does not show any sign of fire getting close to it at any time.
