Gunmen Kill 10, Burn 20 Houses In Taraba (SAD PHOTO)

TARABA – At least 10 people were killed and 15 badly injured, when a group of gunmen stormed Jibu Village in Wukari Local Government Area of the state.

During the attack, which took place on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 the assailants also burned more than 20 houses.


This was confirmed by the Taraba Police spokesperson, ASP Joseph Kwaji, to newsmen in Jalingo

“Yes, I can confirm to you that at about 5a.m. today, a group of Jukun youths stormed Jibu Village, opened fire at the inhabitants and killed 10 people,” he said.

According to Kwaji, the gunmen killed everyone they saw in the area irrespective of the person’s ethnicity and religion, including Jukuns.

“I can also confirm to you that 15 people are badly injured and about 20 houses were set ablaze,” he said.

Kwaji appealed to people in the area to stay calm, saying security personnel were on top of the situation.

He also disclosed that a joint patrol of Mobile Police and military had been deployed to intensify security in the area.
