A 25-year-old housekeeper, Glory Odey, who allegedly stole her employer’s jewellery worth N1 million, on Monday appeared before a Tinubu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
Odey, who is facing a charge of theft, pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Philip Osijiale, told the court that the housekeeper committed the offence at No.1b, Layi Yusuf Crescent, Lekki Phase I, Lagos, on Dec. 26, 2015 at about 4:00pm.
Osijiale said that the accused stole jewellery valued at N1 million belonging to one Fatimo Olowokere, her employer, and absconded to her village in Idoma, Cross River.
He said that the offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The Magistrate, Mrs Memunat Folami, granted the accused bail in the sum of N250,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the matter till May 6 for mention.
