‘I Am A Child Of Light,’ Oshiomhole Says As He Leaves Closed-Door Meeting With Buhari

A shocking twist has filtered into the current rumble in the APC as a Federal High Court In Kano state has set aside the ruling of the FCT High Court which ordered the suspension of Adams Oshiomhole, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC. 

The judge in charge, Justice Lewis Allagoa on Thursday, March 5, 2020, after setting aside the ruling, ordered the police and Department of State Service (DSS) to also provide enough security for the reinstated party chairman, Oshiomhole to resume in his office. 

On Wednesday, immediately after the FCT Court gave the ruling to sack Oshiomhole, police swooped on the party secretariat, blocked entry, and kept vigil. They were soon joined by a team of operatives from the Department of State Security Services, DSS.

The embattled chairman of the ruling party met with President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday at the Presidential Villa.

Speaking with state house correspondents immediately he exited the closed-door meeting, Adams Oshiomhole accused a serving minister and some governors as being responsible for his ordeal. The former edo governor described himself as “a child of light” who will always defeat darkness.

When prodded by reporters, Oshiomhole did not name the minister who was after him.

A few hours after Oshiomhole’s court-ordered suspension, the APC announced the appointment of new national officers as the party vowed to obey the court order asking the national chairman to step aside till the determination of the suit against him.

Former Oyo Governor Ajimobi Emerges As New APC Deputy National Chairman

In what appears to be a swift reaction to the suspension of Adams Oshiomhole on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 as the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, the party has approved new national officers.

“The National Working Committee, NWC, of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has approved the nomination of Waziri Bulama as the Party’s acting national secretary, an e-mailed statement by the national spokesperson of the party, Lanre Issa-Onilu to The Trent revealed.

Also, Abiola Ajimobi, the immediate past governor of Oyo State, has been announced as the deputy national chairman (South), and Paul Chukwuma as the national auditor.

According to the statement, the decision was reached on January 14, 2020 during the meeting of the NWC at the party’s National Secretariat.

“Following the resignation of H.E. Mai Mala Buni as the Party’s National Secretary in May 2019 prior to his election as the Governor of Yobe State, the party subsequently gave notice for a replacement from the zone,” the statement read.

“The NWC has also approved the nominations of Senator Abiola Ajimobi as the Deputy National Chairman (South) and Mr. Paul Chukwuma as the National Auditor following nominations from the respective zones.”\

Abuja Court Suspends Adams Oshiomhole As APC National Chairman

Adams Oshiomhole, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has been suspended by an FCT High Court in Jabi, Abuja,

Justice Danlami Senchi, on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 ordered Oshiomhole to step down pending the determination of the substantive suit seeking his perpetual removal as the APC chairman.

The judge said that political parties must be bound by their constitution and having been suspended by his ward, Comrade Oshiomhole is restrained from functioning as the National Chairman of the party pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit

The judge fixed hearing for April 7 and 8, 2020.
