House Of Assembly Calls For Removal Of Kogi’s Chief Judge

Kogi State House of Assembly has on Tuesday, April 2, 2019, called for the removal of the chief judge of the state, Justice Nasir Ajanah, for alleged gross misconduct.

The motion for the CJ’s removal was raised by Majority Leader, Abdullahi Hassan (Ajaokuta, APC) and seconded by Toyin Lawal (Yagba West, PDP) following the submission of report by Chairman, House Committee on Public Account, Ahmed Muhammed.

The report indicted the  CJ and Chairman, Kogi Hajj Commission for financial breaches.

The House also recommended in the alternative, the CJ should step aside to defend himself over the indictment, which originated from 2016 state auditor general reports.

The House in a unanimous vote also recommended punitive measures on those indicted to avoid a recurrence while referring the High Court Chief Registrar to the State Judiciary Service Commission.

The lawmaker, however, directed the state government to urgently resume payment of salaries of judicial workers.
