Lagos Gov’t Raises Alarm Over Fake Recruitment Agencies In The State

Must read

The Lagos State Government this afternoon urged Lagosians to be wary of dubious outfits that are fraudulently seeking patronage from unsuspecting job seekers.

A press release on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 by the State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde, said the warning followed “the resolution reached by the Lagos State House of Assembly on the illegal and dangerous activities of faceless recruitment agencies/organisations.”

He stated that the State Government is worried by the increasing activities of unscrupulous individuals and organisations employing various tactics to advertise for phony job placement and in the course take advantage of unsuspecting innocent citizens.

While reaffirming the Akinwumi Ambode administration’s commitment to improve security and protect lives and properties of all residents, the commissioner “warns criminally-minded individuals and organisations to desist from these despicable acts as anyone caught will be prosecuted according to the law.”

The release also urged the residents to always ascertain the genuineness of all job advertisements and patronise only those that can be traced and verified to be authentic.

It would be recalled that the House of Assembly, in a Resolution passed recently, called for public sensitisation and awareness on activities of illegal organisations seeking patronage for non-existing jobs and defrauding innocent people in the process.
