Landlord’s Daughter Bites Off Tenant’s Ear Over Electricity Bill

The left ear of a 23-year-old hair dresser, Faith Idehen, was over the weekend, bitten off by her landlord’s daughter identified only as Vivian, over electricity bill at Oba Market in Benin, Edo State.

On the fateful day, Vivian, a single mother of two, demanded the monthly payment for electricity bill, a sum of N1,500, from the victim..

Idehen who did not have the total sum, deposited N1,000  and promised to pay the balance of N500 later in the day.

According to Vanguard, the victim left the compound and boarded a commercial bus to her place of work at Oba Market while Vivian allegedly trailed and caught up with her at the popular Yanga Fish Market and pounced on her where a fight ensued.

The victim who bled profusely and subsequently passed out was rescued from the attacker by concerned passers-by after her ear was bitten off.

Officials of Oba Market Police Station arrested Vivian after laying a 24-hour siege at their residence.

Narrating the incident, the victim said: “I did not know that I was being trailed, even after I pleaded that I will pay the balance of N500 when I returned from work.

“The moment I alighted from the bus, I heard someone calling my name repeatedly. I turned and behold it was Vivian. She grabbed my hair and started beating me.

“Before I knew what was happening, I saw my ear dangling with blood gushing out. I was later rescued and rushed to the Central Hospital where it was later stitched back on.”

Confirming the incident, a Police source said the suspect would be charged to court for alleged assault and attempted murder.
