A Customary Court sitting in Igando, Lagos on Tuesday, January 6, 2014 ended the 18-year old marriage between one Olukayode Atolagbe and his wife, Bisi over the excessive partying habit of the wife.
Vanguard reports that the President of the court, R.I Adeyeri ruled: “Both parties are no longer husband and wife. They are free to go their separate ways.”
47-year old Atolagbe said he was divorcing his wife because of her frequent partying. He said: “My wife hardly stays at home as she frequently goes from one party to another, both on weekdays and at weekends.
“She cannot do without attending three to four parties a week; sometimes she will go for days without bothering about what the children will eat.”
He further said that his wife was a trouble maker who has fought their tenants and even himself in public.
“Before I built my house, our landlords always ejected us from our apartments due to my wife’s frequent fighting with either the landlords’ wives or fellow tenants,” he said.
Responding to the charges, 40-year old Bisi alleged that her husband had slept with one of their female tenants. She also accused him of an attempt on her life, although she owned up to her partying habit.
She added: “I saw my husband dropping something at my door and confronted him. He said it was rat poison. But we had never seen any rat in the house. By the time I came down from my bed to see what he dropped, he had picked it and ran to his room.”
She further accused Atolagbe of starving her of sex, as the couple had not mad love since March 2014.
