When Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State was impeached in 2014, the Speaker of the Adamawa House of Assembly, Alhaji Umaru Fintiri, was chosen to serve as acting governor of the state in July 2014 and his administration lasted for only 86 days before he was removed by a Federal High Court.

Now, a group called the Adamawa Progressive Movement has called for the sum of 22 billion naira expenditure incurred by the 86 day old administration almost a year after the end of his short lived tenure.

The group while speaking at a press conference in Yola, the Adamwa State capital through their convener, Sunday Wugira, explained that in considering some of the alleged projects carried out by the 86 day administration, they were sited in areas controlled by insurgents hence the need for the probe.

According to the group, some of the sited areas include Madagali and Michika Local Government Areas which were no go areas at the time.

“There is also contract for the Faculty of Law in Adamawa State University, Mubi, that needs to be verified,” Wugira said.

Wugira also explained that the bane of development in the state was lack of proper accountability by public officers adding that the group had taken it upon themselves to demand accountability from the government of the state.

“Our quest to beam our search light on the administration of Fintiri follows the serious questions of financial sleaze which his 86 days administration left unanswered. In the same vein, we shall also beam our searchlight on the activities of the current administration and will make our findings known very soon,” he concluded.
