Mob Set Ablaze Suspected Female Bomber To Death In Bauchi

A lady suspected to be a bomber met her premature death on Sunday at the popular Muda Lawal market, Bauchi, when an irate mob reportedly set her ablaze.

Eyewitnesses told THISDAY that the incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday around 7:00 am when the unidentified lady allegedly refused to be checked and screened at the entrance of the market like other customers.

The development they added aroused the suspicion of those in charge of the screening and all the people there who accused her of having explosives and evil plan in the market thereby going berserk and lynched her instantly.

Reacting to the incident in a press statement, the Police Public Relations Officer [PPRO] Bauchi state command, DSP Haruna Muhammed confirmed the event and said that although the suspect was killed before the arrival of the police at the scene, their personnel who included the explosive ordinance disposal unit had been deployed to disperse the rampaging crowd as well as restore normalcy in the market.

“On the 1/3/2015 at about 7:00 hours, information at our disposal revealed that a yet to be identified lady who allegedly refused herself to be screened at the entrance of Muda Lawal market Bauchi was attacked by irate mob who took law into their hands and set her ablaze, as a result she died on the spot before rescue could come,” he said.
