Nigeria has made history by winning the World Scrabble Championship in Perth, Australia on Sunday, November 8, 2015.
Nigeria’s Wellington Jighere beat England’s Lewis Mackay 4-0 to emerge the new world champion in the finals of the best of seven games.
As a result of the youth team and officials being denied visa, Team Nigeria were left with only six senior players at the tournament.
The Nigeria Scrabble Federation has expressed optimism that the feat achieved by Nigeria will help develop the game of scrabble across the country.
