The Anti-kidnapping Squad of the Oyo State Police Command have rescued a woman and her daughter who were abducted at the Odo-Ona Elewe area of Ibadan, Oyo State.

Opeyemi Adeniran and her daughter, Oyinkansola Adeniran, were taken away away in a Volkswagen Golf car from their home at Plot 4, Lodi 2, Apooyin street, Lodi 2, Academy, Odo-ona Elewe in Ibadan, Oyo State’s capital on Friday, May 22, 2015.

Investigation revealed that Adeniran’s husband resides outside Nigeria.

Sources said the pair were released on Thursday, May 28, 2015 even though the family failed to disclose if a ransom was paid or not.

However, a neighbour said the released woman appreciated everyone who showed concern over their plight, Punch reports.

He said, “Everyone is happy for them. Mrs. Adeniran (Opeyemi) thanked us and other people that supported her family. She told us that she and her daughter regained freedom today (Thursday).”

Confirming the release, the state police spokesperson, Kunle Ajisebutu, said, “Opeyemi and her daughter have been rescued by the Anti-Kidnapping Squad of the command.

“Victims are currently undergoing post-trauma treatment and counselling at the post-trauma counselling unit of our hospital in Eleyele.

“They will afterwards be reunited with their family members.”
