The Presidential candidate under the platform of the United Democratic Party, UDP, Barr. Godson Okoye, has tasked the president-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari to prioritize on education, security, power and agriculture in his administration in order to win the hearts of the citizens.

Okoye, who is also the National Chairman of UDP, made this call in Abuja during an interview on Friday, April 3, 2015.

He said, “If I am to set an agenda for him, security, power and education should occupy the pride of place; this should be like in the short term.

“In the medium term, he should be looking at the transport sector, especially the railway transportation as no country could attained desired development without functional rail lines.

“A country in the size of Nigeria, there is no rail line that connects the Federal Capital Territory with other part of Nigeria, what a heck.

Okoye said that the development of rail lines would not only enhance the country’s development but also boost its integration and job creation for Nigerians.”

He added that as Buhari braces up to serve the nation, he should ensure to have a blend of youths and elders among his cabinet in order to make milestone achievement.

Okoye said, “He should use the experience of the elderly people and the strength of the youth.

“He said that the raw energy of the youths should be channel into productive use of the nation.

“The young people have demonstrated their strength in Lagos, Anambra, Akwa-bom and many parts of the country. Coming to the centre, we must use their energy and strength for development.”

While maintaining that he had accepeted the outcome of the election as the will of God, he hailed President Goodluck Jonathan for conceding defeat which saved the nation a looming bloodbath.

He said the president’s statesmanship action disappointed “the prophets of doom, who had predicted the break-away of Nigeria in 2015.”
