RIDICULOUS: Equatorial Guinea Gives Buhari Award For ‘Tackling Boko Haram’

President Muhammadu Buhari late Monday, March 14, 2016 in Malabo received Equatorial Guinea’s highest national honour, the Grand Collar of the Order of the Independence, and dedicated it to the people of Nigeria, who, he said, have worked tirelessly for peace in the country and Africa.

”I will like to express profound gratitude for the honour given to me and my people,” Mr. Buhari said according to a statement signed by his spokesperson, Femi Adesina.

“There has never been a time for greater neighbourliness on our continent in the interest of peace, security and economic stability than now,” President Buhari said at the investiture ceremony.

The president said as African countries faced common challenges, they must strive to cooperate more to find workable solutions that will facilitate rapid socio-economic development on the continent.

President Buhari pledged that under his leadership, Nigeria would continue to make significant contributions to peace, political stability and progress in Africa.

President Obiang Nguema Mbasogo of Equatorial Guinea said the honour was conferred on President Buhari for his “personal integrity, exemplary leadership style and courage to fight terrorism in order to ensure peace and safety in Africa”.

“We deemed it fit and appropriate to honour this son of Africa for the great work he is doing, which includes tackling Boko Haram, a great menace to the continent,” President Mbasogo said.

A human rights group, Intersociety reports, “On October 7, 2015, we disclosed that the Boko Haram Terrorist group had between May 30, 2015 and October 7, 2015, killed at least 1,324 unarmed and innocent citizens. We had earlier on July 16, 2015 disclosed that over 1000 citizens were killed in 48 days of the Buhari’s Presidency by Boko Haram and Islamist Fulani terror groups. The figure then included at least 625 Boko Haram killings and 380 killings carried out by the Fulani Islamist terror group; erroneously called Fulani Herdsmen.According to the Global Terrorism Index (of 2015), a total of 6, 614 citizens were killed by Boko Haram Terror group in Nigeria in 2014 alone.
