A seven-year-old girl who was hospitalised for sexual assault and abuse begged doctors to let her die.

The child, known as ‘Yaz’, remains in a serious condition in hospital after she was severely beaten on August 21.

According to Crime Online, when she was admitted to Hospital de Las Margaritas in Pueblo, Mexico, doctors said she had internal bleeding, a collapsed lung, burn marks on her back, cigarette burns on her arms and hands, and signs of sexual assault.

In a statement given to investigators, doctors claim that Yaz told them: “I want to die…I don’t want to go back to my parents so that they keep hitting me.”

The girl was reportedly taken to the hospital by a neighbour who witnessed the brutal treatment.

Yaz’s parents, Rafael N. and Alejandra N have been charged with family violence and child abandonment, according to the Attorney General of the State Puebla.

The child’s uncle is reportedly on the run after being accused of sexually assaulting her.

She was physically harmed on at least three other occasions but nothing was done about those incidents, according to the Yucatan Journal.

In April, Yaz had surgery for intestinal damage and was admitted to hospital in February with cuts on her legs. Her father allegedly said the girl’s mother caused the cuts.

Detectives are also investigating the death of Yaz’s three-year-old sister, who died in June. Her official cause of death was listed as accidental asphyxiation.

But The Development of Family Integrity (DIF) has now pushed to reopen the case.

Meanwhile woman’s rights activist Frida Guerrera believes the mother was also a victim of domestic violence and feared for her life.

She said: “If the Puebla authorities had done their job since January, which was the first moment that there were indications that the girl had suffered sexual violence, the girl would not be in the hospital now, and Mitzi (her little sister) would not be dead.

“Of course there is institutional responsibility in this.”
