“Elisha got up, walked back and forth across the room once, and then stretched himself out again on the child. This time the boy sneezed seven times and opened his eyes!” – 2 Kings 4:35 NLT
A child was dead and needed to be resurrected. The first time, Elisha instructed Gehazi to take his staff and lay it on the child’s face. Gehazi did, but nothing happened. There was no sign of life. He returned to meet Elisha and told him, “The child is still dead.”
Then Elisha himself went in alone to the room where the dead child lay, shut the door behind him and prayed to the Lord. He lay down on the child’s body, placing his mouth on the child’s mouth, his eyes on the child’s eyes, and his hands on the child’s hands. And as he stretched out on him, the child’s body began to grow warm again! Then the third time, Elisha got up, walked back and forth across the room once, and then stretched himself out again on the child. This time the boy sneezed seven times and opened his eyes!
It took three attempts to get the dead boy back to life. It took seven attempts of prayer for Elijah to make rain fall again. The walls of Jericho fell after the Israelites marched around it thirteen times. And Naaman got healed after dipping in river Jordan seven times. Here’s the message for you today: when you really want it to happen, you’ve got to try again and again, as many times possible, until it becomes a reality. Thomas Edison tried 10,000 times!!!
There’s improvement every time you try, whether it’s visible or not. God will grant you success, in Jesus name. Amen.
