We read in Acts 11:26 that the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch. And that’s because they were seen to be like Christ. That’s the true meaning of Christianity; we’re not just church-goers, we ought to be people who live like Him, talk like Him, think like Him, function like Him, walking just as He walked.
It’s quite unfortunate that we have to talk about being “true” Christians; there shouldn’t be such qualifications, and truly there wouldn’t be if we were all living up to expectations. There seems to be no correlation between the profession and lifestyles of a lot of us – we say that we are Christians but we do things that we know He would never do.
Brothers and sisters, “He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.” I think that’s instructive enough. May God give us the grace to live up to His expectations in Jesus name. Amen.
