Levi was at his working place, receiving taxes from the people, and Jesus said to him, “Follow Me,” and that was it; Levi quit his job, left the life of comfort that he was used to, and followed Jesus. Shortly before Jesus called Levi; Peter, James, and John, fishermen, forsook their business and followed Jesus.
One day, just after many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more, Jesus said to the twelve disciples who forsook all to follow Him, “Do you also want to go away?” Simon Peter answered for everyone, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” John 6:66-69
The disciples followed Jesus because of Who He was and because of His words, not because of anything else! They left their jobs and businesses, not to become richer or more popular and powerful, but just to be with Jesus and to hear Him speak! And you know, when everyone else left, they stayed. It wasn’t a life of comfort and convenience, but they stayed. Brothers and sisters, what’s your motivation for following Jesus, and how committed are you to following Him?
I have decided to follow Jesus, no turning back, no turning back.
