Super Eagles Drops Point In Latest FIFA Rankings

Nigeria’s Super Eagles dropped down from 51 to 52 in the February 2018 world rankings released by FIFA on Thursday, February 15, 2018.

Nigeria began 2018 by retaining the position they dropped to in December but the team could not maintain the spot and slid down a spot in February 2018.

Inthe rankings, Super Eagles had 606 points against the 651 points they had in the January rankings. They are currently seventh in Africa.

Tunisia, who was ranked 23 in January 2018, maintained their position. They have 914 points. Senegal, 27, with 855 points dropped a spot and are second in Africa.

DR Congo, 39, is third with 728 points. They climbed up four places in the rankings while CHAN 2018 hosts and champions  Morocco dropped three places. The Atlas Lions are 42 in the world and fourth on the continent.

Egypt with 683 points are the biggest droppers in the top 10. They dropped 13 places to 43rd and are fifth in Africa. Cameroon, 51, is sixth with 608 points. Ghana, 54, Burkina Faso, 57, and Algeria, 60, complete the continental top 10.

Nigeria’s Group D Russia 2018 European opponents Croatia and Argentina retained their places in the rankings.

Croatia is ranked 15th with 1048 points while South American giants Argentina also remained the fourth-ranked team in the world with 1348 points. Iceland recorded their biggest move in recent times after moving up two places from 20 to 18.

The top 10 countries in the world are unchanged as World Cup champions Germany, Brazil, Portugal, Argentina, and Belgium retained their spots. Spain remained sixth while Poland, Switzerland, France, and Chile complete the top 10 in the world.
