Taylor Swift’s Album, 1989, Goes Platinum With Record-Breaking Sales In First Week Of Release

Pop star, Tailor Swift’s 1989 album has topped the Billboard 200 chart in the US with a record-breaking sale of 1.287 million copies in its first week of release.

The album has sold more copies than all the 70 biggest-selling albums in the US combined between Monday, October 27, 2014 and Friday October 31, 2014.

Swift’s new release, which happens to be her third album has outsold her previous fastest-selling record of the album, Red, which sold 1.208 million copies in its first week of release in 2012.

As was announced by Billboard chat on Wednesday, November 4, 2014 the album has also has out-shined the 12-year-long record holding Eminem, The Eminem Show in 2002, which sold 1.322 million in its second week at the top of the US album chart.

Tailor Swift has become the first artist to ever achieve three consecutive albums that have sold more than a million copies in the first seven days of release as her 2010 album ‘Speak Now’ sold 1.047 copies in its first week.
