Collins Adeyemi, a Nollywood actor, has died.

According to family sources, Collins Adeyemi, who was also a masters of ceremony and former president of the Performing Musicians Employers’ Association of Nigeria, PMAN, Abuja chapter, passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 in Abuja.

His last public appearance was at the African Achievers Awards which took place on July 8, 2016, at the International Conference Centre in Abuja.

Mr. David Egwu, a co-founder of the awards and a friend of Collins Adeyemi, told Daily Post that his death is a “mystery” and calls for sober reflection. He disclosed that Adeyemi had told him he was sick and was unsure of attending the awards event.

“The death of Adeyemi calls for sober reflection. What really killed Adeyemi remains a mystery to me as we were both at the Award event together,” Egwu is quoted as saying.

“Unfortunately, before his death, he told me he was not feeling too well and we did not even know he would make it to the event but he did; only for me to get a call early this morning that Adeyemi is gone.

“Death is so inevitable and sometimes I wonder why we are struggling. What’s all the struggle for? If someone as hardworking and persevering like Adeyemi can die untimely, then I wonder,” he said.

Nicki Nwadinobi, a close friend of the deceased says that he had been “on and off work” because of the sickness, but that “it was not serious”.  The nature of the sickness was, however, not disclosed.

A childhood friend of Collins Adeyemi, who did not wish to be named because of the sensitivity to the matter, said that he slumped in his home in Abuja and died before he could get to the hospital.

“I have known Collins since I was 9 years old. We grew up together. He is an old family friend. I have known him like forever. It is true he slumped and died. He was at home in his Abuja residence when it happened but before his wife could get him to the hospital, he was gone,” the friend said.

“We can’t even ascertain what led to his death; if it was a mild ailment he had or something else, no one knows, but the truth is we have all lived our lives and one day we will all die.

“That is just as they say there is no evil in the world but there is nothing un-evil in the world and it comes from different areas.

“All we need do is put our trust and hope in God. His death is a very sad one. We are meeting later in the day to deliberate on the next step,” the friend concluded.

Adeyemi celebrated his 19th wedding anniversary three weeks before his death.

May the Lord receive his soul.
