KANO, Nigeria – The Kano State Governor-elect, Kabir Yusuf, is mourning the loss of his trusted bodyguard, Abdulrahman Gambo, who died in a catastrophic car accident on Saturday, April 29, 2023, while returning from a private wedding in Bichi.
Gambo’s colleague, known only as Cena, survived the crash.
An anonymous witness at the scene provided a chilling account of the accident, detailing how the vehicle “skidded off the highway, surmounted several times,” leading to the tragic fatality.
“I’m deeply saddened to receive the news of the death of a member of my security detail, Abdulrahman Gambo, in a car accident,” Yusuf stated.
He remembered Gambo as a deeply committed and loyal member of his team. “Abdulrahman was a passionate and loyal member of my team. And, I and everyone around will miss him,” Yusuf shared, his words filled with grief and mourning.
Late Gambo has since been laid to rest in Kano, following Islamic rites, as the governor-elect and others close to him continue to grapple with this sudden loss.
Yusuf offered a prayer for his departed bodyguard, beseeching Allah to grant him eternal rest and forgive his shortcomings.
The tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers that can unfold on our roads, even for those who strive to ensure the safety and security of others.
As the community mourns the loss of Abdulrahman Gambo, their hearts also reach out to Cena, hoping for his speedy recovery.
