Must read

Two brothers, Abiodun, 23, and Ayinde Oniru, 20, have died after they reportedly went to have a ‘spiritual bath’ at a white-garment church located at Ori-Oke Ibukun Street, Ilasan in the Ajah area of Lagos state.

The duo had reportedly gone to seek spiritual help from the church on Thursday, December 18, 2014 and the authorities directed them to take a ‘spiritual bath’ in a nearby stream in a neighbouring area of Ogombo.

They went to the stream following the directives and during the bath, the two brothers got drowned in the stream.

Following the tragic death, some members withdrew their membership from the church and the attention of the police at the Ogombo Police Division was alerted.

The police officials invaded the church on Saturday, December 20, 2014 to arrest the presiding pastor identified simply as Olusoji but it was learnt that he had fled the scene and is yet to be tracked.

Consequently, the police operatives arrested the assistant pastor whose name was not yet disclosed, Punch reports.

The bodies of the deceased duo were subsequently deposited at the Mainland Hospital mortuary, Yaba, where an autopsy would be done.

Confirming the incident, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, said, “It is confirmed, and the police have arrested the assistant pastor, who doubles as the church secretary. Meanwhile, investigation continues on the matter.”
