Chukwu Chiagozie 27, has been arraigned before an Itire Magistrate’s Court in Lagos on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 for allegedly swindling N185, 000 from his girlfriend, Esther Nwaneka on the pretext of helping her secure an accommodation.
The said offence was committed in August 2013 as reported by the prosecutor, Inspector Olakunle Shonibare.
Mr Shonibare told the court that the accused disappeared after getting the money from his girlfriend without getting the accommodation for her as promised and has since avoided any contact with the her.
The idea to get the apartment was initiated by the accused which was spurred on when he asked the victim to marry him.
However the accused pleaded not guilty to all the charges leveled against him and he has been granted a bail of 20,000 with a surety in like sum.
The Magistrate, Mrs. A.O. Gbajumo has adjourned the case till June 18 for further hearing and trial.
