She allegedly sold two of the children for N600,000, to a woman named Evelyn Ojiaku, who runs a maternity home in Owerri, Imo State capital.

According to a report by The Sun, Nuhu worked with five other persons, including a medical doctor, who are all in the child trafficking syndicate.

Police stated that after abducting the children, Nuhu decided to drop the eldest of the children along the Abuja-Jos highway because they thought she was old enough to understand what was happening.

After wandering on the road for hours, a motorist stopped on the road and inquired from the little girl what she was doing on the road and she told them what happened.

The main culprit was arrested by the police who interrogated her and she confessed to the crime.

The detectives went to Benin, Edo State, and Owerri where the other members of the gang were arrested including Ojiaku, her son, John Ojiaku, Chigozie Goodwill, Elizabeth Onyemaobi, and Dr. Amadi Godwin Uzoma.

When the suspects were paraded by the Police Force Headquarters in Abuja, it was discovered that Evelyn Ojiaku operates a private hospital, Royal Maternity/Clinic and Child Service located at Umuyi-Akaba-Ikeduru, Owerri-Okigwe road and also engages in sale of children.

The police also found out that Ojiaku had earlier bought a day-old baby belonging to Nuhu, for N100,000 and urged her to look for children to sell to her.
