A housewife, Aminat Aiyemobola, 22, has reportedly stabbed her 40-year-old husband to death with a kitchen knife following his refusal to give her N10 for Tom Tom sweet for their little daughter.
he tragic incident occurred at their residence at at No 4, Magbon Alade Street, Ibeju Lekki area of Lagos State.
Police operatives from the State Criminal Investigations Department, Homicides Section, Panti, Yaba have arrested the suspect after the elder brother to the deceased reported the incident to them.
Until the fateful day of the incident on Sunday, October 12, 2014, the deceased was a casual worker with an Indian company in Nigeria.
The woman was irked after her husband refused to give her the money and confronted her for always buying sweet for the little girl thereby teaching the girl to have a sweet tooth, New Telegraph reports.
This resulted to argument which subsequently metamorphosed to serious quarrel and name calling.
Not quite long into the squabble, the angry woman stormed into the kitchen and came out with a kitchen with which she stabbed her husband three times on the chest leading to his death.
During a questioning by the police, the suspect claimed she did not know what came over her that led her into the kitchen to pick the knife and commit the abominable act.
While responding to the interrogation by the detectives, the suspect reportedly said, “I love my husband.
“He was a very caring man to me and my children. Oga, I don’t know what came over me.
“We love each other.We’ve been living happily as husband and wife.
“In fact, I don’t know whether I’m under a spell. God please forgive me.”
Meanwhile, the suspect is expected to be charged to court soon.
