Women Stain Their White Trousers With Menstrual Blood To Protest Tampon Tax (PHOTOS)

Must read

A woman, Charlie Edge, has thought out the ‘best’ way to protest the luxury tax on tampons, so she waited until she had her periods.
Edge ditched wearing any sanitary product and even wore a pair of white trousers just to let the blood seep through to make the protest perfect.
She stormed the UK House of Parliament on Saturday, November 7, 2015 where she took some shots outside with one of her friend who wore dressed in similar manner, and another who wore a pair of black trousers.
They held two placards with signs that read: No Uterus??? No opinion,” ” Does your tax make you feel awkward?”.
She took the protest to her Facebook page and wrote:
“Today i am forgoing tampons and pads outside the houses of parliament to show how ‘luxury’ tampons really are. We are also raising money to buy tampons for homeless shelters, women’s shelters and the refugee crisis.
We’re getting lots of dirty looks and someone just shouted at us to get a job. But everyone keeps saying “haha omg how quickly would we get free tampons if everyone stopped wearing them?!”
So, I’m giving it a go.
Taxes are necessary, i get it.
So are tampons/ pads.
They’re not luxury items, anymore than jaffa cakes, edible cake decorations, exotic meats or any other number of things currently not taxed as luxury items.
Maternity pads are taxed, but incontinence pads arent.
We’ve had enough. Maybe bleeding on their doorstep will get the tories to do something about this?
Please share and spread this around. I wanna get on buzzfeed. byeeeeee xxx”
Just as expected, she received series of backlash from people who felt that there were better ways to make her voice heard.
