A coalition of Igbo leaders assembled from all states of the country have requested that the deputy governorship slot in the 2015 governorship election in Lagos as a condition for supporting the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, a Thisday report states.

The coalition which is presently garnering support for President Goodluck Jonathan’s re-election bid, urged the federal government  to secure the lives and properties of the Igbos throughout the nation particularly in the Northern part of the country in order to guarantee electoral security for the president in the 2015 polls.

The coalition under the name of “Goodluck Gaa Niru 2015” stated their intent after its first executive meeting over the weekend in Abuja.

Kenneth Ibe-Kalu, the ‘Onyeisi Gburugburu’ of the group enthused that President Jonathan acquired 25% of votes spread across the nation as a result of the  heavy presence of Igbos outside their South Eastern homeland.

The communique which was signed by 10 Igbo leaders advised the PDP to utilize its proposed strategy in order to unseat the All progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos state.

They also demanded the prompt dismissal of Attahiru Jega, the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the 30,000 extra polling units allocated across the country.
