Must read

Nigeria’s Aviation Minister, Osita Chidoka on Monday, February 16, 2015 announced that the ministry had apprehended three Arik Air staff for stealing fuel.

The trio of Blessing Dugbe, Samuel Asuquo and Isaac Ajakaiye were rounded up in the course of a security patrol on Sunday, February 15, 2015 at about 3 am while pilfering Jet A1 fuel from an Arik Air plane with registration number 5N-MID with the aim of re-selling the fuel at a  cheaper price to other unsuspecting airline operators.

Chidoka said: A development that has capacity, to threaten safety and security of airplanes. Meanwhile, the three (3) suspects were handed over to the Crime Investigation Bureau (CIB), AVSEC MMIA for further action.”

He added that the Chief Security Officer of the airport had been directed to hand the suspects over to the airport police for proper prosecution.

This is not the first time that Arik staff have been accused of theft as passengers have in the past complained of losing valuables like iPads, jewelry, clothes and perfumes.

It would be recalled that popular blogger, Japheth Omojuwa had once accused Arik flight attendants of making away with his iPad while on a flight.
