4 Killed As Explosion Rocks Port Harcourt

No fewer than four persons were reported dead following an explosion that rocked Port Harcourt City in Rivers State.

The explosion which occurred in the evening hours of Thursday, September 17, 2015 was most likely caused by gas leakage.

According to reports, a gas cylinder used for welding exploded around 5pm in a workshop near the ABC Bus park along the Eliozu road and the East-West road.

The loud sound from the explosion made people around the area to scamper for safety while two persons were killed at the spot.

One of the two other deceased victims died on the way to the hospital, while the fourth victim died at a hospital after medical staff on duty demanded a sum of N35,000 before they would treat him.

The Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, Muhammad Kidaya Ahmad, confirmed the incident.
