CCT Trial: Saraki’s Enemies Are From Kwara State – Senator Abba

Must read

A former governor of Yobe State, Bukar Abba, has said that almost all governors in the country have cases with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) with the exception of himself.

Abba, who is a serving senator representing Yobe East in the National Assembly, revealed that the ongoing trial of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, is being fueled by some persons from his home State of Kwara.

According to Daily Post, the senator, who chairs senate committee on Ecology and Climate Change, among all the governors who have served in the country, he is the only former governor that has never been invited by the anti-graft agency.

“You know that there are so many other former governors who are in the same shoes with Saraki; whose trials have been initiated, but they were not publicized like that of Saraki, because he is the Senate president.

“Almost every former governor in the senate with the exception of Bukar Abba Ibrahim has one case or the other with the EFCC or CCT,” he said.

According to him, “it’s not easy to fight corruption, especially when it comes to individuals; that is why those of us do believe that corruption can best be dealt with through institutions.

“Let’s strengthen our institutions, stop giving and taking bribes. Institutional fight of corruption is the best fight we can have as a nation. It has begun, and it will continue for a very long time.”

Abba, who was governor of Yobe for two terms, insisted that even if Saraki is eventually removed from office as Senate President, the PDP won’t take over the leadership of the senate.

He said there is no way PDP can take over the leadership of the senate with the presence of over 60 senators from the APC against 50 of the PDP.

He said though the senate is not against the emergence of Ike Ekweremadu as senate president, he is of the belief that the senate presidency cannot shift over to the PDP.
