Fati Makes History As Spain Thump Ukraine

Must read

On Sunday, September 6, 2020, Ansu Fati made history as the youngest goalscorer in Spain’s national team after scoring in their 4-0 victory over Ukraine. The 17-year-old scored his goal in the 32nd minute after cutting in from the left and curling into the lower corner.

The goal came after a spell-binding half an hour opener from the youngster at the Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium. By this time, the youngster’s driving run had earned his team a penalty that was left for Sergio Ramos to convert.

Ramos went in for the second goal before Ansu Fati signed his name in history books during his debut game for the Spanish national team. His record beats the country’s former record of youngest scorer set by Juan Errazquin, who recorded three goals at 18 years in 1925 against Switzerland.

Mancity’s new signing Ferran Torres drove the last nail on Ukraine’s coffin, scoring the fourth goal to secure the first victory for Spain in the Nations League. The win was not only celebrated by Betway punters who had wagered on Spain, but also Spain’s fans as they moved on top of Group A in League A.

On Thursday, Luis Enrique’s side opened with a 1-1 draw against Germany, whose second match ended in a second 1-1 draw against Switzerland. During Spain’s game with Germany, which was also available for betting through the Betway app, Fati impressed the fans right off the bench. His performance was enough for Luis Enrique to hand him his first start on Spain’s front three.

Fati seized his chance through his mesmerizing display of talent, though there were no fans to cheer him. According to his coach, it’s easy to have birds on your head at that age, though he’s mature enough to know he’s taking the right path as a player.

Fati Displays Incredible Confidence

Fati is currently the youngest player to ever score for Spain’s National Team and La Liga side, Barcelona. He’s also the youngest player to score in the Champions League. Fortunately, Luis Enrique doesn’t concentrate on the age when choosing his squad.

According to Luis Enrique, Fati is definitely going to have bad games and make lots of mistakes, but that’s all part of learning. Nonetheless, his confidence is extraordinary. The Guinea-Bissau native moved to Seville with his family as a young boy, before joining Barcelona’s La Masia academy at ten years.

Fati made it to the first team last season, making him the second-youngest player in the club’s history. After his debut at the beginning of the season, the Guinea-Bissau native went ahead to become La Liga’s youngest goal scorer during their game against Osasuna after coming from the bench. Fati later scored during his first start for Barcelona against Valencia at only 16 years.

Many fans expected the 17-year-old to get his first debut for Spain earlier this year, though he had to wait since the fixtures were postponed. Nonetheless, it was worth the wait as Ukraine failed to get a grip of the youngster who earned a penalty and almost recorded a bicycle kick score.
