Female Suicide Bomber Blows Up Self In Maiduguri Market (PHOTO)

A female suicide bomber on Friday, July 31, 2015 blew up herself up at Gamboru market in Maiduguri, Borno State capital.

A vigilante, Babakura Kolo, who witnessed the incident, said, “There had been a suicide attack on Gamboru market this morning. It was a female suicide bomber. The attack happened around 6:30 am (0530 GMT) as the grocers were arriving in the market which starts early,” said the vigilante.”

The number of casualties is yet to be ascertained according to AFP, but eye witnesses stated that some persons were victimized.

The vigilante added, “From accounts we gathered from people around, the woman arrived on a taxi tricycle, as every woman grocer does. She blew herself up as soon as the tricycle stopped in the midst of other tricycles that were dropping traders off.”

Corroborating the information, another eye witness who preferred anonymity said, “I was at home when I heard a loud explosion that sent me rushing out of my house. It was coming from the Gamboru market. I went there, but from afar. The place was littered with victims and burning rickshaws.”

There is no immediate claims of the attack but it is believed to have been from the insurgents loyal to Boko Haram Islamist sect who have been at the helms of several attacks across the nation.
