It was a harvest of death as double bomb hit outside Ekremah al-Makhzoumi primary school in the city of Homs in central Syria claiming 32 lives out of which 10 were children. city of Homs in central Syria.
According to reports by Punch, Syrian pro-government channel on Wednesday, October 01, 2014 transmitted a short video recording of the results of the blast displaying blood stains on the ground and different parents keenly searching for their children and their belongings.
Furthermore, it was alleged that the flames started from a car close by.
According to Punch reports, the governor of Homs, Talal Barazzi described the attack as a “terrorist act and a desperate attempt that targeted school children”.
Also, one of the government officials who spoke on the grounds of anonymity disclosed that the blasts happened as the children were leaving the school premises.
According to him, the first explosion was from a car bomb parked and detonated in front of the school, followed minutes later by a suicide bomber who drove by and detonated his car which was filled with explosives.
The officials ranked that attack as one of the worst attacks in the city of Homs in a while adding that not fewer than 56 sustained severe injuries during the sad occurrence.
However, it has not been made known the people behind the bomb attack but it was learnt that such attacks were carried out during the Syrian civil war by some insurgents who were bent on overthrowing the government of Assad.
Throughout the conflict about four years ago, it was obvious they never bent on hurting children but rather the civilians.
At least 19 people, including 10 children were killed in that attack which took place in May when the Syrian government forces detonated a bomb in the northern city of Aleppo which hit a complex where a school was located together with the residence of one of the insurgents.
