According to officials of the Texas department of state health services, as many as 80 people, including five children had contact with the man who was diagnosed with Ebola in the US, which shows a hike from the previously reported 18, just as four family members of the patient were directed to stay at home until Sunday, October 19, 2014 although they exhibited no sign of Ebola so far.
The patient, Thomas Eric Duncan, said to be from Liberia, according to Huffington Post was admitted to Texas health Presbyterian hospital on Sunday, September 28, 2014 after he was erroneously discharged to go home earlier on.
Texas’ commissioner for health David Lakey said: “We have tried and true protocols to protect the public and stop the spread of this disease, this order gives us the ability to monitor the situation in the most meticulous way.”
