At least nine persons have been killed while houses razed down as unknown gunmen attack Fulani settlement in Mashegu Local Government Area of Niger State.
The attack occur on Monday, November 1, 2021, when large number of armed men invaded the area and opened fire on Fulani herdsmen.
According to reports, an unspecified number of cattle, and other valuables including a motorcycle were taken away by the hoodlums.
The Niger State Police Public Relations Officer, Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident on Tuesday.
According to the PPRO, the Commissioner of police in the state had deployed tactical team to the area to forestall further attacks and also to bring the perpetrators to book.
The police spokesman called on residents of the state to help the security agencies with relevant information as the command works towards restoring peace in all areas facing unrest.
