In an interview with FOX Business Network, Bishop T.D. Jakes, senior pastor of The Potters House in Dallas, Texas, told Charles Payne, host of “Making Money,” that in order to be successful in business you have to change the way you project it in today’s digital age.
The 57-year-old South Charleston, West Virginian author of “Let it Go: Forgive So You Can Be Forgiven,” and producer of the 2014 movies “Heaven Is for Real” and “Winnie Mandela,” went on to say that his new book, “Instinct,” is full of business advice. He adds that it also gives insight into how you can live your life with the instincts which God has given you.
Here are some tips from Jakes about business which appear in his book:
1. Expand your way of thinking to embrace global alternatives.
According to Jakes, people mainly fail in their business ventures because they aim for people who are similar to themselves. He adds that you can’t excel in business if your goal is to reach people who vote, think, and act like you because the reason money is called currency is that it is worldwide.
“Most people think tribally … All of their relationships, their contacts, their associates are tribal and you block the ability to succeed when you block the ability to communicate beyond your tribe, said Jakes.
2. Use the power of media.
Although your business may be small, use social media to help it expand, according to Jakes. He adds that whether your business is small or large, it can benefit from social media exposure to help you obtain your goals.
3. You must be committed.
The only way you will get investors interested in committing their time or resources into your business is if you show them that you are committed to your project, according to Jakes. He adds that showing your excitement and commitment to your business through well thought out data analysis is the only way you will attract investors.
4. Find the passion and attraction for your business before trying to persuade others.
If you really want to know what will attract others to your business, you must first find a way of stimulating yourself of its concept, said Jakes. He adds that to succeed in business, you must treat it as if you were going on a date with someone and think how you would encourage that someone to find you an interesting partner.
