Kaduna Deputy Governor, Alex Bantex Denies Slapping El Rufai | STATEMENT

Must read

One of the hot topics on social media in the past few days is a report which broke on The Whistle, an online newspaper, that said that the Kaduna State deputy governor, Architect Bala Bantex had slapped Governor Nasir El Rufai in retaliation for a slap by a governor.

The report, published on Friday, March 25, 2016 said that the incident happened at an executive council meeting of the state and the topic of contention was an alleged retrenchment list by El Rufai which had 70% earmarked for an early retirement as being Christians from Southern Kaduna.

Bantex has denied ever slapping El Rufai and said that their relationship couldn’t be more productive and described the story as a “ridiculous rumour”. In a statement published on Nigerian Bulletin, an online forum on Sunday, March 27, 2016, the deputy governor said the administration was doing everything to full its campaign promises.

“I am aware for instance of the spread of a ridiculous rumour seeking to paint me as the victim of a fictitious fight. This sort of lies are being spread by certain journalists of southern Kaduna origin. For what reason?

“It seems they cannot believe the strength and vitality of the relationship that Mallam Nasir El-Rufai and I have built in the service of Kaduna State. Together we shall deliver the promise of the Restoration Programme, our party’s manifesto, for the benefit of all our people.

“We should reject shrill cries that often betray prejudice and be firm that we must be guided by logic and history. For all that Kaduna State has suffered from religious violence, the many lives lost and the divided neighborhoods that have sprung up as a result, it seems that some people have forgotten.”

Nasir El Rufai has irked the church with a number of clergy issuing cease-and-desist orders and death orders to the Kaduna Governor over his proposed religious preaching bill and plans to demolish the Christian community of Gbagyi. Leading the charge in the media is Apostle Johnson Suleman who declared El Rufai the “Herod of Kaduna” and declared that his days are numbered.
