ONDO, Nigeria – Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, is in “high spirits” as he continues his recovery abroad following a recent medical treatment, according to the Ondo State Government.
Bamidele Ademola-Olateju, Ondo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, said his swift recovery is set to bring him back to Nigeria soon.
In the statement released on Thursday, July 6, 2023, Ademola-Olateju conveyed Akeredolu’s profound gratitude towards the people of Ondo State for their ceaseless prayers and goodwill messages.
The governor said the displays of genuine affection and solidarity have been a soothing balm and have strengthened his resolve to continue serving the people.

“The Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON, expresses his profound gratitude to the good people of Ondo State for the ceaseless evocation of prayers and messages of goodwill for his full recovery and return to good health, soon,” Ademola-Olateju quoted the governor as saying.
Governor Akeredolu also extended his gratitude towards President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his team, all party leaders, his fellow governors, and the State House of Assembly members for their support during his absence.
Ademola-Olateju assured the public that Akeredolu is in high spirits and is eagerly looking forward to rejoining the people of Ondo State as soon as his doctors deem it appropriate.
Meanwhile, the Ondo State House of Assembly confirmed Deputy Governor Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa as the new acting governor on June 13, 2023.
This followed Governor Akeredolu’s announcement that he would be going on medical leave for 21 working days, leaving his deputy to act in his capacity.
The governor had assured the public in a letter of his intended resumption on July 6, 2023.
With today being the said date, the people of Ondo State anticipate his return and continued service.
