Police Recover 7,365 Stolen PVC’s In Delta

Police officials attached to the Delta State Police Command have recovered 7,365 Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) recently stolen by some armed assailants from the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Oghara, Ethiope West Local Government Area of the state.

It was disclosed that the rebels raided the INEC office some two weeks ago and carted away with about 600,000 PVC and some registers.

Some security guards attached to the INEC office have been arrested for questioning in connection with the crime.

The arrested guards were simply identified as Goddy, Justice and Ejiro.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Celestisna Kalu, who confirmed the incident said that the stolen PVCs have been recovered and a total of 7,365 cards were seen, according to The Sun.

Kalu said, the police arrested one 46-year-old man identified as Aputu  of Oji Aputu Compound, Onyobulu Inland Market Road, Oghara and recovered one of the stolen INEC registers from him.

The police spokesperson also assured that the command was on the trail to arrest the rebels and brought to book.

Meanwhile, the recovered PVCs were duly handed over to the electoral commission.
