President Jonathan Inaugurates N16 Billion Gas Project In Delt

President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday, March 26, 2015 performed the ground-breaking of the N16 billion  Delta Gas City Project, the Gas Revolution Industry Park (GRIP) at Ogidigben and a deep sea port at Gbaramatu, with both in Delta State.

President Jonathan, who was flanked by Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan and a number of Minister, including Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Allison-Madueke, explained that the delay in the commencement of the exercise was due to the communal crisis between the Ijaw and Itsekiri people over the naming of the project.

President Jonathan, while appointing Allison-Madueke to head a committee to oversee the project, announced that the GRIP would be Africa’s biggest gas and fertilizer export processing zone and would generate thousands of jobs.

He said: “It is my intention to make the gas park most investor- friendly. It will be an export processing zone to attract global market. This project will meet world standard.”
