Presidential Lie: Buhari Did Not Receive Benin Republic’s Highest National Honour (CLICK)

President Muhammadu Buhari visited Benin Republic on Saturday, August 1, 2015 to attend the tiny country’s 55th independence anniversary where he was conferred with the National Honour of Grand Croix du Benin (Grand Cross of Benin).

Following the awarding of the honour, Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity erroneously took to Twitter to announce that the honour was the highest national honour in the neighbouring country.

According to reports, the highest honour in Benin Republic is the Grand Commander of the National Order of Benin Republic, which was awarded to businessman, Aliko Dangote, in 2013 and President Bai Koroma of Sierra Leone also got in 2014.

This is the latest installment in a growing series of goofs from the Presidential media team.
