Pandemonium had broken out in the Iju area of Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State after a group of men believed to be ritualists had allegedly murdered two teenage girls in a farm.
The deceased identified as Oyinkansola Owoeye and Folasade Bello who were both 12 years old wrere murdered while they were in the farm to fetch some firewood.
After a long wait for their return proved abortive, their parents of the deceased together with some other relatives waded into a search on Saturday, January 18, 2015 and discovered their corpses by the roadside to a farm with machetes cuts.
According to Vanguard, sources added that beside the machetes cuts all over their bodies, it was also discovered that their blood had been allegedly drained by their assailants suspected to be ritualists.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Wole Ogodo, who confirmed the incident said, “We received information that the two girls, Oyinkansola and Folasade, went to the bush to fetch fire wood where they met their untimely death last Saturday.
“ Our detectives have visited the scene of the crime, while photographs of the corpses were taken as the corpses had been removed and deposited at the mortuary of the State Specialists Hospital for autopsy “.
“ We, hereby, appeal to the people of the state to field the command with any useful information that could lead to the arrest of the criminals. Such information will be treated with utmost confidentiality.”
