Nigerian Soldier Goes Rogue, Shoots Colleague To Death In Bayelsa

A soldier attached to 423 battalion in Elele barracks, River state working in Onopa area of neighbouring Bayelsa state reportedly went rogue, fatally shooting a fellow military colleague on Tuesday, October 15, 2014.

The said soldier, Muazu Haruna, a lance corporal, was said to have shot another soldier, whose name was simply given as Ishiaku, a sergeant, at close range with the latter giving up the ghost before he could receive any medical help.

No reasons were given for the shooting which occurred on Monday, October 13, 2014.

Haruna was reportedly apprehended and taken to the area command division of the police and later taken to the Joint Task Force following reported influence from a captain, whose name was not given.

A source who spoke anonymously claimed that Haruna might have been intoxicated.
